Stable VPN for travel? Need advice

Last time I used airport Wi-Fi, someone managed to log into one of my accounts a few days later. Since then я've been anxious about online security. I tried several free VPNs, but they constantly disconnect, slow down the internet, and bombard me with ads. I just need something stable for hotels, cafés, and airports — nothing fancy, just reliable and safe.
